All the criticisms that people like Mill raised regarding the common elements as a veiled way of teaching generally eligious values were never objected to by Mann. Mann merely opposed a PARTICULAR eligion being taught. This is a key peice of history that is still playing itself out in court decisions. Some suggest that he Supreme Court needs to read Mann more carefully before making any more decisions regarding church/state separation!
