Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia was founded on October 6, 1898 at the New England Conservatory
of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. Since then it has grown into the
largest music fraternity in the world with over 120,000 initiates and
chapters on nearly 200 college and university campuses across America.
What is Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia? It is a professional music fraternity.
Is that all? Of course not, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia means different things to different people, with no one meaning being the most important. The important thing to remember is that Sinfonia is not only a professional music fraternity, but it is music, brotherhood, professionalism, service, social, it is a learning experience, it is tradition, growth, and fraternity in its purest sense.
The Primary Purposes of this Fraternity shall be....
* To encourage and actively promote the highest standards of creativity, performance, education and research in music in America
Further purposes shall be....
* To develop and encourage loyalty to the Alma Mater
* To foster the mutual welfare and brotherhood of students of music
* To develop the truest fraternal spirit among it's members
