Subject : ALU 20031114 Date : Fri, 14 Nov 2003 11:01:56 -0500 -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Jeannine asked me how my parents' visit went, and I rambled on for a bit, so I thought everyone else might want to know too: -=-=- It was a pretty mellow visit, we didn't do much sightseeing. Mom said it was the "hang out with Amy" visit, and next time we'll do the tourist stuff. I worked half days on Thursday and Friday. I stayed at Scott's place, and they stayed at my place. At 1 both days I left here and went over there, hung out, had lunch and coffee, chatted. And then around 5 we came over to Scott's house and had dinner before heading out for the evenings plans. Thursday night we went to see Matrix: Revolutions in the Imax theatre in Jordan's furniture. Crazy Mardi-Gras themed furniture store with a theater, how do you like that? On Friday we went to the Massachusetts International Auto show, which was no where near as cool as I have heard the Detroit one is. I think it was dealer sponsored, rather than manufacturer, and pretty much everyone got in free. I got to check out the Toyota Matrix, Rav4, and Prius, so I was happy. I pretty much disassembled all three cars, and they were happy to let me. I think I like the Prius the best, because it feels the most like my current car, but I'm more likely to get the Matrix because it's further off the ground, and I really can't stand being next to vehicles I can't see over at intersections. Saturday Scott and I went over int eh morning and made waffles. Oh wait, I forgot to mention that Friday my parents and I went to the Plastics museum in Leominster, which was pretty cool. They had historic Tupperware, the history of the plastics industry in Leominster, back to the "natural plastics" days when they worked with animal horns, etc. to make combs and pharmacists spoons. Back to Saturday: Waffles, hanging out, then we went to the Higgens Armory and checked out the full suits of armor and various weapons. Mr higgens was obsessed with metal working, and created the museum to showcase metal through the ages, how it can be beautiful and useful. I learned more than I will probably ever need to know about metalworking. We had a half meal at about 5, then hing out for a little bit before going to Spag's 19, which is a giant discount store. I bought some things for the house, like timers for the fish tank lights and some windshield washer solvent for the car. Oh, I forgot: we also went to restaurant supply store Saturday morning and Scott stocked up on things like a silicone mat and an icecream scoop. After Spags we were finally sorta hungry so we went to Vinny T's, but with an hour and 15 minute wait we decided to go somewhere else instead: El Basha, for great Middle Eastern food! Sunday we just hung out in Clinton before taking my folks to the airport. Nothing too exciting. My Dad took a lot of pictures while he was here, including a movie of my and Warty (the bigger male fish) having a big head shaking fight. I don't know what my mom did too him (probably all of that tapping of the glass) but he's been super aggressive lately. If I get within 2 feet of the glass he'll start that "Come over here so I can kick your ass!" head shaking. It's funny, but I'm a little worried he'll hurt himself, he kept hitting the glass last night as he tried to get me. And he has started doing it to Scott too. The girls got a new heater while my parents were here too: The old one was always on and kept 'em at about 90, so we got a really nice one at Petco Sunday morning. -=-=- Hmm, anything else I should include in the ALU? Well, I've been working long hours. 60, 50, 50, 34 were roughly my totals for the past 4 weeks. And 34 that last week because I took 2 half days and the weekend off b/c my parents were here. There's a good chance I'll work a little over this weekend, but just a little; the mad dash is behind us. Scott is sailing Saturday, so I get to entertain myself. I'll probably go hang out with the kids for a while, then come back here and work, and then we're going out with one of his friends who's in town. Oh, and I bought my tickets for Chirstmas: We're getting in Saturday the 20th, renting a car for a week, driving up to TC. Then driving back down on Christmas day to see his Dad, spending time with friends and family in the Detroit area (Yes, this includes you Stacie!) and especially New Years Eve with Scott's High School buddy's at Ted's house again this year, I hope. I think we fly out on the 4th, a sunday. Yes, that's 2 full weeks in Michigan. I'm still not sure what we're doing with the kids, or the kitty. Scott is very seriously thinking of getting a cat (male, neutered, declawed, under 4 years old) very soon. I keep sending him pictures. ^_^ Because of the 2 week holiday we might wait until after the new year, just to avoid boarding him for so long. OK, back to work time for Amy, I hope everyone is doing well, and have a Happy and safe Thanksgiving!!!! -Amy
