From : "Amy H." Subject : ALU 20021120 Date : Wed, 20 Nov 2002 23:15:15 -0500 -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Hi Everybody! A.N.I.M.A.L. is in the body shop right now, having repairs done. THe guy who backed into me's insurance is going to cover it 100%. Yay! The estimate is $991 for: bumping out the door, replacing the molding and the "16V DOHC" decal, repainting the door, and blending the color with the front and back driver's side quarter panels (thus the replaced decal, he didn't hit that, I'm keeping hte replaced bits). What a birthday present, eh? Animal turned 7 this month; she was built in November of 1995. Feel free to celebrate in your own special way. In the interim I am driving a 2002 Saturn SL-2. That's a 4 door sedan. I am impressed - it's pretty peppy, not too large, and possibly a smaller turn radius than Animal. I know I shouldn't talk ill of her while she's away, but the Saturn is quieter and has 78,000 less miles. So, I went to the Saturn website today and checked out their lineup. I didn't get to check out the 3 door coupe - are they discontinueing that? Amy from work just bought one, but there was no info on them on the site. I signed up for Saturn to send me info. I also asked them to send me info on the Ion Quad coupe coming out in 2003 - it's technically a 4 door, but the 2 back doors are like the 3rd door on the 3 door coupe. Yep - big gaping wide entrance at the side. And it still looks like a 2 door. In fact, it looks a lot like Animal. I think I'm in love. So, you too should check out the Ion quad coupe, coming in 2003: http://www.2003ion.com/flash.asp It's very Flash intensive, so only go if you have a good internet connection - it was bogging down on me in CLASS. Wow. Ok, it doesn't look THAT much like Animal. The roofline is a similar arc, and the front end says "sports car" moreso than the regular Saturn, but the back end isn't nearly so bubbly as Animal. My Baby got Back! Lessee, other things of interest: Shaolin Soccer! http://www.movie-list.com/s/shaolinsoccer.shtml By the Guy who did "The God Of Cookery" which the Taiwanese Film Club here at U of M showed a couple of years ago. Odd, but good. Shaolin Soccer looks so cheesy it has to be good. On a more personal note: Scott (my brother) is getting close to closing on the house. He's buying my Dad's parents' farmhouse - my Grandmother passed away about a year ago, and the estate is being settled. Yep, he's getting 5 acres, a barn, a few other outbuildings, and a 4 or 5 bedroom, 2 bath farmhouse with a wood furnace in case he ever loses electricity and runs out of fuel oil in the winter ;-) And even more personal note: Things are going great with Scott (my boyfriend). Yes, he's still in Massachusetts and I'm still in Michigan. I haven't seen him in a week and a half, and I'm not sure when I'll see him next. We're hoping to catch a cheap fare the first or second weekend in December, so I can bring him up North to Traverse City & he can meet my parents, etc. Much fun. Much travelling on his part. But he's excited about it. And YES, he suggested it, I'm not forcing him! ^_^ What else is new and exciting? Well, I only have 3 more Espaol classes, and something like 7 computer ones. "Yay!" for the end of Spanish! "Oh Crap!" for the end of CPS 276 - I'm super far behind in hmwk, like 5 weeks. The professor doesn't care, but I'm going to freak out in about a week when work steps up too. Oh, work, did I mention that? The thing I was supposed to have done a month ago still isn't done. There's always that one last thing.... And then the project we though we had until the 13th really has to be done by the 6th (yes, that's 2.5 weeks) and I haven't even started it. Fortunately I have someone else to work on that with, and he's already started, so I think we're at least starting off on the right foot. What else? Oh, Julian's apparently writing a novel, I just read through his journal tonight. You can too, at www.levork.org Enjoy! -Amy p.s. I will be in TC for Thanksgiving, starting with Thanksgiving day and running through mid-day Sunday. I will also be appearing for Christmas, starting the Friday night or Saturday morning before Christmas and running through mid-day the day of. Hope to see as many people as possible!
