Subject : ALU 10/12/2001 Date : Fri, 12 Oct 2001 12:01:05 -0400 -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- I'm not sure who knows and who doesn't, but to keep the playing field level I thought I'd let everyone know that my grandmother passed away a week ago, and her funeral was Tuesday morning. Thank you to everyone who called or wrote with condolences. In other news, I now have the e-mail address of Rebecca Crain (formerly Becky Panek). I also passed along many of the e-mail addresses I have to her, so if you know her and get an e-mail, don't be surprised ^_^ Work is going well, though a little tense due to the layoffs of 2 weeks ago. Things will be a little tight for a while, but I sincerely hope we can make this work. We had a little pep talk earlier this week from the man in charge of finance, and that made us feel better about the state of things. Those who were laid off can now file for unemployment. I don't think anyone has found a job yet, though I know for a fact that my friend Shaun is trying madly to apply and interview and get a job SOON. I've also started in on the new hobby: Sewing. It was a shaky start, and I keep realizing exactly how little I know. Like, should I baste all my seams? Why won't my Bobbins wind evenly? Why won't all varieties of thread work? How did I nick my scissors?!? The sewing's going fairly well though. I have the main seams of the shirt done; the hems remain, as well as the elastic at top and wrists. I'm making myself a Ren Faire outfit: Chemise, bodice, and probably skirt. I'm also terribly bored here in Ann Arbor. If the sewing didn't give you a clue, it should have. It's just like last fall's 2 afghan sprint. No, not "To Afghanistan sprint" - I'm referring to the 2 throw blankets I crocheted between Columbus Day and Christmas. So, if anybody wants to come visit, I'm willing to dig up things to do. Like Cider Mills, Apple picking, going to the Blind Pig or the Ark, Heck, even a jaunt up to Birch Run. I HAVE to hit the Mikasa outlet this year! If anyone sees Michelle (McCloskey) Root this weekend, remember to wish her Happy Birthday! ^_^ I will be in Chicago this weekend.
