From: "Amy Harrand" Subject: ALU 7/19/00 Date: Wed, 19 Jul 2000 12:05:23 EDT -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Hi kiddies! I think we're a bit overdue for an ALU! There are actually some interesting things happening in my life again, things worth reporting on! Work has picked up, I actually have 2 things to work on right now that I'm ignoring in order to write this. Gotta have a little variety, right? Also in work news, not only did they delay our IPO indefinitely (originally planned for this Fall, I think) and our President resigned a couple of weeks ago; but NOW they've gotten rid of 20% of our staff (primarily marketing and sales) and are re-thinking our goals and whatnot. Yes, scary layoffs! I'm still in a moderately secure position; they're still looking for Cold Fusion Programmers, and we'll be losing interns (programmers) in the Fall making the need even greater. The news, however, has numbed/deadened/lessened my desire for a new car. I'm having some problems with my current car (Bessie) i.e. won't start without some gentle coaxing. But that new BMW Z3 is just a leeeetle bit outta reach *grin* I'm still considering a Saturn though, everyone's been telling me what great cars they are. If anybody has input good or bad on Saturns, let me know, OK? And then there's my dating life: I actually had a date on MOnday. Er, we had lunch, and we were cautious to not call it a Date. His Name's Brett Oliver, and he's so incredibly unlike anyone I've ever dated. Football player says it all. I'm debating on dismissing him out of hand, b/c he's just NOT the sort of person I usually hang out with, but then again, different is good, right? He works with me here at Centromine, but he's only on a 2 month contract and has to play it by ear after that. He is, however, yet another Psych major, and he used to play AD&D. Can I pick 'em, or what? I've also been hanging out with John and Pat a lot, and we're going out to City Club tonight, hopefully with Pooka (another friend). Yeah, I get to play a Goth Chick tonight. WooHoo! We'll have to see how I like that... Other news: Still living alone. I get to sign the lease for the new place Friday. I might end up NOT bringing the Green Couch down, since Jordana bought a sleeper couch recently. The fish are doing well, breeding like mad, and they ate a whole shiotload of algae last weekend when I was gone 3 days. You would too if you weren't getting fed, trust me. The Art Fair runs the 19th thru 22nd, for anyone who's interested. C'mon down!! :) -Amy *************End of Amy Life Update (ALU) 07/19/2000*******************
