I loved you and I let you go. I loved you and I let you slip away. When the truth of my love - simply told. Would have made you stay. Foolish pride caused me to hide My love - my love for you.
You loved me, you tried. I fought you. By guarding my heart - I made you go away. When deep inside I yearned for your love. I yearned for you to stay.
You were the one good thing that ever came to me Flew to me - cleaved to me. I clung to you and tried to control us, without telling you why I did these things. I pulled you close and crushed your wings. I stifled you and trapped you. To survive - you crawled away.
You were always gentle - always soft and warm. I froze because I didn't know how to love as you did...how to loosen the reigns on my self-control. I chose safety - I got lonliness. I told you without using the words. I know...I made you leave. I loved you so much you were my world. Oh - how could I let you go.
Through the rivers that flow from the pools in my eyes I court a memory of you - it still holds the power to make me smile. I remember the sight of your eyes as they stared into mine. Searching - surging with tender love. The taste of your lips, the warmth of your smile The shades of your voice - a tone for every mood. Your voice battled the sight of you - Because it made me want to close my eyes and listen To the voice that beset my soul. I want you. I had you. I loved you - and I let you go.
Yesterday I thought Perhaps I'd caught A glimpse of you. My heart stopped then raced ... I touched a shoulder. It wasn't yours. A confused stranger. I'm a stranger to my soul. I'm the girl who betrayed me. The girl who let you leave.
