Soyini!

Daddy.

How can I love someone I never knew?
Daddy, where are you?
How can I miss an absence?
I do when I look around and view the presence
Of those who have stayed,
Who were not waylayed,
By the enticement of whatever made you leave
How can I grieve,
For a family that I never had?
It makes me sad,
To think that I could have meant it
When you asked it
At one of you rare phonecalls
Sweetie, do you love Daddy?
Yes.
No. I lied.

Sweetie. Daddy loves you, do you know that?
Yes Daddy.
Oh yeah! Then why arent you here
Why isnt your face clear
In my memory?
Why is it that you only call a couple of times a year?
Daddy?
Yes Sweetie?
You forgot my birthday.
We cant get by on just moms small pay.
Why did you run away?
Nothing Daddy.
I gotta go Sweetie.
Click.
Click.

Does anybody think thats enough?
To call yourself a father?
Where are you guys, do you all hang out together?
Quitters Club, Failures Club
I dont know where you are but I know where youre not.
Youre not wherever you need to be, Daddies.

Ill get by without you because I dont have a choice
But one day Ill find a voice to tell you
How hard you made life for your family
Sometimes Im angrybut mostly just hoping youre happy
Wherever you are.
