National Neurology Training Programmes
YNT Questionnaire on National Neurology Training Programmes

Training programmes in neurology have not been harmonised in Europe,
which has lead to difficulties in the recognition of specialist training

in various countries. This is in contrast, however, to the concept of a
dynamic and open Pan-European market. Since the need of young
neurologists and trainees for information on the clinical training
programmes in neurology in various European countries is steadily
increasing, the YNT has designed a questionnaire to find out what these
training programmes demand.

The first step is to collect information and evaluate it, in order gain
a transparent overview. The results will be subsequently discussed at
the YNT meeting in Jerusalem on Tuesday, 20 June 2000, 12.00-13.30 hours

at the ICC Jerusalem International Convention Center. (see ENS
programme).

In a second step, the essential data on national training
projects will be made accessible through the YNT homepage. In a third
step, it will become necessary to discuss the current situation, and
then to develop suggestions as to how the various national training
programmes in neurology could be recognised throughout European. The YNT

would like to point out that during this process, it only wishes to
articulate the needs of neurology trainees in order to support them in
their discussions with national authorities, and to help facilitate a
general training programme harmonisation in Europe.

The questionnaire on National Training Programmes can be obtained from
the YNT homepage
(http://www.geocities.com/CollegePark/Square/4271/neurotrain.html) or
from the YNT secretariat: Dr. Axel Petzold, Institute of Neurology,
