Plankeye - "Relocation" (BED7418)

Just after the release of Plankeyes "The One And Only" (1997) the lead-singer and main song-writer Scott Siletta left the band to start up a new band (Fanmail), together with drummer Adam Ferry. It was a pity, because "The One And Only" was one of the best albums of this power-pop-group, in my opinion. But, two of the original members refused to give it up and they released a new album, on BEC-recordings instead of Tooth & Nail. "Relocation" is the title of this album and it seems like they found a new way of making music. The music still has the typical Plankeye-feel in most of the up-tempo-songs, especially in I cant complain, but the general touch of this album is more acoustic-driven, like the song Goodbye. This song sounds like Plankeyes swan-song, but this record proofs that the members of Plankeye are still capable to write energetic, melodic pop-tunes. Im not really into this type of music, but I think Plankeye deserve respect as one of the first Christian alt. rock-bands. They made room for bands like All Star United and Bleach and the cool thing is that theyre still alive and kickin. When youre into the music of bands like Blur, Live, All Star United and R.E.M. youll have to get this record asap.!
