St Kilda

Started work early this week. 7am - 3pm. Yeah, it actually went well. I loved having the afternoons to myself. I loved being in at work when everything was quiet and new. I loved walking out of the office whilst everyone was frantically trying to get everything done before the close of business. I didn't like getting up at 6am. Oh well, you get that. Carole has ok'd this on a continuing basis. Wee ha.

We had some very interesting news this week. I'd desperately love to blurt it all out here and now, but until everything is completely confirmed, I'll have to hold back. I will reveal all however.

Nancy had her first three ECT treatments. I spoke to her on Wednesday, by which time she had had two treatments. She seemed a little brighter than usual - but that could be anything. She had a few things to report about the actual procedure, as well as a status report on how she was feeling. She seems to be holding up well, and is hopeful that the treatment will work. I'd really like to see her this weekend, but I can't see it happening. I will definately try to get out there next week sometime, since I've got all this free time in the afternoons now.

Saturday
I got my hair cut. It's shoulder length now. Kinda choppy and bouncy. Very different. Since my hair was all the way down to my waist it is a big change. But I love it. Joe made a nice job.

On Friday, it being "pub day" and all, I trooped down to the pub with the usual suspects from work, and had a most interesting conversation. One of the girls whom I sort of indirectly work with - Anna (she works in accounts) recently became engaged to her boyfriend Chad. Now she's all excited and very much planning the big wedding shin-dig which is 18months away. But the most amazing thing about the whole "I'm getting married at 21, and this is going to be the best thing in the world....ya ya ya is that she and her to-be-husband have already firmly agreed on three children, are in the process of buying/building a four bedroom home in which to house them, and are planning the birth of the first bambino already. (Once they're married of course)

I strongly resisted the urge to take Anna outside and beat her about the head with a large heavy object, so instead I asked if she had any peers with children, younger brothers or sisters, and H O W could she possibly have made her mind up on this? I asked had she travelled, done all the things she wanted to do in life, asked again how she could be ready to settle down and be a housewife.

She looked nonplussed by the whole discussion, said she just knew she was ready, and ordered another drink. I still can't believe it. Someone as vibrant, exciteable, outgoing as she is, ready to chuck it all in to stay at home and breed. Phooey.

I resolved then and there to go back on the Pill.
