"I feel because it was my idea, I should be able to use a mirror."
you say, hoping for approval.
You feel you should be able to use a mirror, after all it was
true, it was your idea, why should you have to take the dangerous
part. Besides, Nick is a great actor, you couldn't ever fool a
vampire into thinking you are asleep, he can do it! And
you have have expierience with weapons. You could kill the
vampire much more successfully than Nick can.
"OK, I'll do it." Nick says half-heartedly.
Nick lays down in his bed and you and Mary both grab mirrors,
that vampire will be back any minute, you will be ready. Your
knife is in hand ready to attack the vampire when he arrives.
You see a shape, very quickly, you aim the mirror at it. You are
shaking and it is hard to keep the mirror focused on the vampire.
You see him look straight at you, but of course, he doesn't see
you. The mirror's power is holding firm. You see the vampire
head toward Nick's bed. You wait until the vampire is close
enough, after all, you have a great view and you are a few feet
away from Nick, this is the critical moment. Closer, closer
still, the vampire is just about ready to take a bite. He is at
his most vulnerable point. Quickly but quietly, you stand behind
him, still under the protection of the mirror, and come down
swift and true with the knife to the vampire's left rib cage.
The knife enters his body with terrific force. His blood streams
out of him like a river. He falls to the ground with a
pitiful moan as he bleeds to death. It all happens so fast that
it is hard to believe it is over.
"Hurry," you say, "Let's see how Jim is doing!"
The three of you rush outside to check on Jim. He lay on the
ground, very dazed and shaken but other than that, pretty normal!
"What happened?" he wonders.
"You need your rest" Mary tells him.
The next day, when you return to the city, you find out that the
government kept this vampire alive to study it and learn from it,
but of course the general public was misinformed. When he got
loose, a concerned government let out its prolonged secret to
warn others of his possible influence. It was the talk of the
day and next twenty days. You are glad to know that there
are no more vampires out there and to know that a government's
secret has now been layed to rest.
