NKISI
by Lestrino C. Baquiran, M.D.
When I first saw you at the Guggenheim
I knew already you were sublime
NKISI, container of forces
Full of power from mystical sources
I have seen those body nails
Driven hard to Magdalenes wails
There was no potent concoction on His head
A prickly crown of thorns instead
I have heard those bloodthirsty taunts
Provoke a sermon from another mount
The spear, handed you to instill more fear
At Him, even He was not exempt from tear
Your subjects invoke you not to be meek
For it is vengeful justice that they seek
The results of your firse attitude
Earn their fickle gratitude
NKISI, NKISI
INRI, INRI
Unlike Christ forgiving Barrabas
Not all gods need their Galgotha
