A Roaring Start for The Second Century Endowment Campaign Luz Racela, M.D. '63 FUPFA is thrilled to report that three consistent University benefactors have come forward to kick off The Second Century Insurance Endowment Program. Tomo Garcia, Math �67, and his wife, Cristina, donated a $200,000.00 life insurance program that will perpetually fund their Annual Excellence Award. Tomo & Cristina are donating the premiums along with their cash award. After their yearly cash donations are paid, the invested proceeds of their policy will be the source of the perpetual awards. Luz S. Racela, M.D. �63, donated her prepaid $50,000.00 life insurance policy. At her request, the Foundation became the immediate owner and sole beneficiary of the policy. Earnings from the invested proceeds will fund grants for rice & food research at UP Los Ba�os. Two hundred and fifty thousand ($250,000.00) insurance dollars is a big start for this new program and its effect will be felt well into the Second Century of the University of the Philippines. It is FUPFA�s hope that these generous donors will inspire other alumni and friends to get on board and find out how easy it is to make a significant contribution that keeps on giving.
