51st Annual Business Meeting of the Georgia Association of Nursing Students

I. Laura Yoho, President, at 9:15am, called the October 11, 2003 third Business Meeting of the 51st Annual GANS Convention to order.

II.  Attendance
     a.  Current number registered as of Saturday, October 11, 2003 at 9:15am.
     b.  There are 208 members present
     c.  10 State Officers
     d.  85 Delegates
     e.  2 State Consultants
     f.  30 School Chapters
    g.  95 Voting Members present

III.  Unfinished Business
     a.  Slate of Candidates read by Traci Steinhauser, NEC Chair
          1.  Candidate information may be reviewed by Delegates in Campaign Headquarters, which is located in
               Cummings from 4:00-4:30pm
          2.  Nominations from the Floor
                a.  Robert Ware nominated Stacey Clements from Clayton State for the position of West District Director.
                b.  Meredith Lindsay nominated Dorothy Boles of AASU for the position of EKG Editor.
                c.  Jordan Bell nominated Benson Wright from Emory University for the position of Public Relations Director
          3.  Office for all positions are now closed
      b.  Tellers Appointed by Chair
           1.  Jerome Williams from Columbus Technical College
           2.  Jeff Peterson from Valdosta State
           3.  Consultants were asked and agreed to act as tellers
     c.  Candidate Speeches will be held today in the Oglethorpe Room at 2:15pm
           1.  All candidates will have 2 minutes for his/her speech
           2.  They will then be allowed 2 minutes for impromptu questions
           3.  The Presidential Candidate will be allowed 5 minutes for her speech and 2 minutes for impromptu
                questioning
           4.  Following the Presidential impromptu questioning, there will be a presidential debate (where the candidate
                will be asked questions).

IV.  New Business
     a.  Announcements

           1.  The last hours of the exhibit hall be be today from 12-2pm.  If you have not had a chance to visit with our
                exhibitors, this will be your last opportunity.
           2.  We are still accepting items for the Silent Auction in the back of the HOD.  If you have any items, please see
                Elisha.  Final bids will be accepted tonight at 7:00pm.  Items will be awarded following the Awards
                Ceremony.  Please be prepared to pay by check or the exact amount in cash, as change will not be
                available.
           3.  The Blood Drive is being held now until 2pm in the Hamilton Room.  Please make sure to sign up at the
                Registration Tables for your donation time.
           4.  This year, we are having special admittance controls for the Awards Dinner on Saturday, October 11th.
                You will be required to wear your official convention name badge and MUST have a blue dot on your badge
                to be admitted to the Awards Dinner.  If you do not present both of these requirements at the door, you
                will not be admitted.  Please check with the registration table to make sure you are properly registered.
                The dress for the Awards Ceremony is semi-formal, or the best possible.
           5.  According to the Standing Rules of Convention, alcoholic beverages are prohibited at any GANS events
                or programs.
           6.  Penny Wars will be held until 2pm.
           7.  Please hold your Evaluation forms until after the Awards Banquet tonight so it will be complete.
           8.  The Medication Luncheon will be held in Oglethorpe room F-H today.  If you plan on attending this
                luncheon, the cost is $20, which includes lunch.  Please sign up at the registration table if you are
                interested.  There will be a yellow skicker on your badge.
           9.  Candidate Speeches will be held today at 2:15pm.
           10. For Sale:  T-shirts $8 or 2/$15 or mugs
