GANS Board Meeting

1.  Call to Order: Laura Yoho, President, called the meeting of the Board of Directors of the Georgia Association of Nursing Students to order at 11:00 am.

2.  Roll Call:

Quorum: Laura Yoho, President, declared a quorum present

2.  Motions:
a. It was moved and carried that GANS pursues all persons whom owes the GANS Treasury money to be notified by certified mail, that all funds must be paid by April 1, 2003 or actions will be made as follows:  Small claims court and credit bureau notification.  Submitted by: Noel Lawson.  Seconded by: Ashley Green.  Action: Carried.
3.  Treasurer's Report
a.  GANS has spent a total of $4,390 on convention.  This will be right at our budget is we raise the expected $25,000 this year.  fundraiser ideas for Phoenix include the following:  Penny Wars, AIDS Quilt, Basket of goodies, and candy bars.  We are countinuing to sell the scratch-off cards.
b. 
Noel will email a travel itinery before we depart for Phoenix.
c. persons with outstanding moneys owed to GANS:  Elixabeth Honeycutt ($360.23), Amanda Cline ($688.69), Jacon Mann ($490.20), Kalin Whaley ($269.80), and Samantha Sikking ($115.40).  These individual will receive a certified letter to inform them that the next steps we plan to take to recover our money is Small Claims Court, and reporting them to the Credit Bureau/Equifax.  Inore Mendoza, Nikisha Gray, and Michelle Mandisha currently owe $89 each for plane tickets to the 2003 NSNA Convention.
d. Golf Tournament:  There are currently 3 sponsors.  Each hole sponsorship is $500; a discount rate of $250 will be availabel to school chapters.  Team sponsorships are $400 per team.  The deadline is April 11, 2003.  The goal for March 21st is to have 7 sponsors by March 28th - 18 sponsors, by April 4th - 21 sponsors, by April 11th - all sponsors.  April 21st we will be begin focusing on the player/team drive.  GANS's Golf Tournament will be featured in the NSNA Convention issues of the Imprint Magazine.
e.  GANS has a new tax id number.  It is 810592622.  When the extensive 501C3 paperwork is completed, GANS will officially be a tax-exempt organization.
4.  Report of the Officers
a.  President
i. NSNA Convention:  Dress will be business casual.  It willb e hot and we will be walking, so tennis shoes are acceptable.  Other items to remember include sun block, walking shoes, socks, and labels for the Exhibit Hall.

i. Laura Yoho (President) will serve as GANS's official delegate.  she needs to have an official alternates as per NSNA.  Let her know if you would like to volunteer.  DELEGATES MUST HAVE THEIR STUDENT IDENTIFICATION.
iii. GA Caucus at the NSNA Convention:  Tentatively scheduled for 11 pm on Friday night.  This is where the presidents of chapters throughout the state get together to develop a consensus on candidates to support.  It will be held in the Convention Center, exact location TBA
iv. Tentative room assignments for the NSNA Convention were made and are as follows: (1) Noel Lawson, Julie Thacker, Traci Steinhauser, Ashley Green.  (2) Danielle Reneman, Wendy Jackson, Gina Hulsey. (3) Laura Yoho, Julianna Hunt. (4) Krystal Knight, Michelle Mandisha, Inore Mendoza, and Nakisha Gray
b.  1st VP
i. Packets for the convetnion exhibitors will be mailed as soon as the EKGs arrive and can be included in the packets.
ii. The fees for Convention will be as follows:  Members-Preregistered aplication postmarked by September 8th 2003 will be $45.  On site registration will be $60.  Nonmembers - $60 preregistered application postmarked by 9/8/03, on site $70.
Lucheon-$15 advance, $20 on site
Two-hour NCLEX review with Loretta Manning-$20 advance, $25 on site
c.  NEC Chair
i. Traci will be vising Valdosta State University in the near future.  She will meet with the chapter president and that time and discuss ways to help Southern chapters to become more involved in GANS.
ii. For the 2003-2004 GANS Convention, the NEC will verify pre-slated candidates' member numbers by calling NSNA.  For individual running from the floor, members numbers will be checked by a list provided from NSNA.  Nominees running for office shall have be members of the NSNA by September 14, 2003.
4.  Old Business
     a.  Moneys due:
i. Elizabeth Honeycutt:  currently owes $360.23
ii. Amanda Cline:  currently owes $688.69
iii. Jacon Mann:  received a letter from him saying that he will not pay.  Currently owes $490.20
iv. Kalin Whayley:  currently owes $269.80
v. Samantha Sikking:  currently owes $115.40
vi. The next step for these individuals to be sent certified letters notifying them of the next action:  Small Claims Court and reports to the Credit Bureau/Equifax.
5.  New Business
     a.  April Meeting
i. April meeting will be in Arizona at the NSNA Convention
ii. May 17, 2003...meeting location is TBA
6.  Adjournment:  Laura Yoho, President, adjourned this regular meeting of the GANS Board.
b.  absenteeism:
i. Ken Greene has curently missed 3 meetings without notifying the Board.  GANS is seeking to resolve this issue with Ken by continuing attempts to contact him.  According to the ByLaws, any member who misses two or more meetings will be automatically off of the GANS Board of Directors.
ii. GANS will be investigating replacements for the position of South District Director in Ken's regisnation.
c.  GANS Convention Tee-Shirts
i. Gina is designing the convention tee-shirts to match the theme "Stepping Out of the White"
ii. There will be nor more than 3 colors
d.  Website
i. Suzanne has the information on free websites.
ii. Everyone will look into options for the website (such as webmaster costs) and report at the May meeting.
e.  Email chages
i. Please remove Kenn Green and Angie Van Ronk from your email list.
ii. Please add Darla Ura and Kathy Markowski (the Presidential Advisors) to your email list.
