GANS Board Meeting
February 15, 2003

1.  Call to Order: Laura Yoho, President, called the meeting of the Board of Directors of the Georgia Association of Nursing Students to order at 2:30 pm.

2.  Roll Call:

2.  Motions:
a. It was moved and carried that Ken Greene not receive financial support for National Convention on the bais of having 2 unexcused absences for board meetings.  This is in reflection of the GANS By-Laws and Board member Contracts of Duty.  He will also be responsible for the reimbursement of the airplane ticket purchased for the 2003 National Convention to Phoenix, AZ, in his name.  Submitted by:  Krystal Knight.  Seconded by: Gina Husley.  Action: Carried.

b. It was moved and carried that GANS purchase QUICKBOOKS for $220 to keep track of finances and hand down from Treasurer to Treasurer.  This enables GANS to track and have records of past years' expenses.  Submitted by:  Noel Lawson.  Seconded by: Gina Hulsey.  Action:  Carried.
3.  Treasurer's Report
a.  Plane tickets for Arizona have been purchased (can add people because purchased on the internet).  Fourteen bought total (Laura will be reimbursed).  Ken Greene and Susie DeBruhl hboth have plane tickets in their names but are not currently going (or are not eligible to attend).
b. At the NSNA Convention in Arizona, we will be raising money with the Baskets, Pennywars, Water, Supernurse Tees, and AIDS Quilt (the AIDS Quilt is for charity).
c. To raise money for the trip, we are fundraising by selling coupon scratch-off cards.  They were passed out today for those who said they would raise $200.  Money raised will be brought to the March meeting.
4.  Report of the Officers
a.  1st VP:
i. All changes to the contract were made, except bigger space for focus sessions, kickback, and breakfast buffet prices.  These issues will be addressed before the final contract is approved.
ii. Mail out packets for convention exhbitors will be mailed out soon.  They currently include:  application, PR Letter, EKG, Schedule, And Golf Tournament info.
iii. We need a picture for convention T-shirts and theme.  Stepping...Gina will have sketches to chose from at next meeting
b.  Secretary
i. The former Secretary, Brandy Dingler, has not responded to the voicemails left for her regarding the deliquent minutes and tape recorder.
ii. There is a new email address for School secretaries to email minutes to the GANS Secretary.  It is [email protected].  It will be passed down from secretary to secretary.
c.  Legislative Director
i. The Legislative Reception on January 30th 2003 went well.  Everyone was pleased to see nursing students there:  many of the issues important to us were discussed.
ii. There will be a Lobby Day at the Capitol on February 27, 2003.
d.  Community Service Director
i. We will be using the money raised for the AIDS Quilt for the Carl Lipinski Scholarship for male nursing students.
ii. Community Service projects for this semester include the AIDS Quilt, Adop-a-Hospital, Good Samaritan Purse Project (deadline July 31st).  We are looking into MedShare.
e.  Public Relations Director
i. We are in every issue fo the Imprint Magazine!!!
ii. PR Ambassador - representatives to GANS Board (role to be work with recruiter from hospitals to see what's available, set up Discussion Panels, Lunch-n-Learns, and Externships, and disseminate info to all of GANS and GA).
iii. Career Fairs:

f.  BTN Director
i. HSTAT-Children's Health Insurance Program (Peachcare for Kids)-the rnrollment drive on February 1st 2003, went well.  The community was receptive.  Next time, we will do the drive later in the day.

March 10-14 is Unsured Week
g.  NEC Chair
i. We are waiting to hear from NSNA about our pre-slated candidates from Georgia.
ii. If you are still interested in running, it is possible to run from the floor once we arrive in Phoenix.  It would be wise to let GANS know before the convention so everyone can be best prepared.
iii. The date to be Pre-slated for State Elections is September 15, 2003
4.  Old Business
     a.  Moneys due:
i. Elizabeth Honeycutt:  We received a check for $111, and a note asking for receipte for everything else.  We have receipts from Reno and are following up accordingly.
ii. amanda Cline:  no new news
iii. Jacon Mann:  no new news
iv. The next step for these individual is to report their credit to a collection agency.
5.  New Business
     a.  Resignations
i. Susie DeBruhl has resigned from the GANS Board due to family concerns.  She sends her regrets.
ii. We have not heard from ken Greene, who has missed 2 meetings without excuse or notice.
    b.  March Meeting
i. March 15, 2003
ii. Macon State University
iii. April meeting will be in Arizona
6.  Adjournment:  Laura Yoho, President, adjourned this regular meeting of the GANS Board.
