1.  Call to Order: Laura Yoho, President, called the meeting of the Board of Directors of the Georgia Association of Nursing Students to order.

a. More fundraising ideas were discussed.  They include:  Silent auction, advisor challenge, loose change challenge, cell phone challenge (phone ring=owe money to GANS), 3rd Saturday every month=GANS carwashes.
3.  Report of Officers:
a. 1st VP:  Possible cities to hold the convetnion were discussed.  A hand-raised vote was taken to hold the 2003 GANS Convention in Augusta, and the majority voted in favor.  A back up site of Savannah, GA is also being explored.  Theme ideas were also discussed.  The winning vote for the 2003 theme was Stepping Out of the White:  The Future of Nursing.
b.  Community Service:  The Christmas party will be held for 6-10 year old boy.  We will need 16 shoeboxes.  fillers for the boxes should include:  no small pieces, no toothpaste, and nothing containing alcohol.  Mittens, scarves, hats, small toys, stickers, etc. are good ideas.  Everyone should email Elisha with what they will bring to include the boxes.  Each district should bring 50 stockings to the party, and candy.  For the Jingle Jog, we decided to wear our Super Nurse tee's as team shirts.  Registration is $20 plus a toy, and can be accessed online.  Be sure to write GANS TEAM at the top of the form.  (www.jinglejog.com)
4.  Old Business
a.  Incorporated
     i.  Discussion of corporation status at MidYear lead our Treasurer, Noel Lawson, to
         investigate GANS's corporation status.
     ii.  GANS was incorporated until 1999, when the annual registration dues were not paid.
     iii.  An internet vote by the GANS board approved a $65 reinstatement fee to be sent
          to the Secretary of State.
5.  New Business
a.  Georgia Caucus
    
i.  No one from the state of Georgia except the GANS board members attended the
         GA Caucus.
     ii.  Therefore no meeting was held.

b.  Awards
     i.  New Award:  Dean of the Year
     ii.  Everyone remember to check the NSNA website for NSNA award applications, due
         at the January meeting.

c.  GANS Convention 2003
     i.  The site of Augusta, GA was approved.  An alternative site of Savannah is also
         being explored.
     ii.  Theme ideas were discussed
Stepping Out of the White:  The Future of Nursing was
         approved.
     iii.  Fun Activities for the convention were discussed.

d.  Committees
     i. 
Colors Committee
          1.  BTN Director, Wendy Jackson, Chair
          2.  The purpose of this committee is to research colors and the meaning of those
               colors, to submit to GANS as professional representation of the association.

     ii. 
Membership Committee
          1.  NEC East and Chair, Traci Steinhauser, Chair
          2.  The purpose of this committee is to come up with ideas to make all Nursing
               Students become members of GANS and NSNA.  Ideas include: payment plan,
               dues included in tuition.

     ii.  January 18, 2003
     iii.  Cherie Giles will provide directions via email
