GANS Board Meeting
October 14, 2001
Jekyll Island, GA
GANS President, Kelly Knox, called the meeting to order at 9:10am.  Everyone was greeted and congratulated on being elected into their positions on the GANS board.

NSNA MidYear Convention will be held November 1st-4th ini Reno, Nevada.  The next GANS board meeting will be conducted at some point during the convention.  Jennifer Menichetti, North District Director, moved that GANS pay for hotel, registration, and transportation for all GANS Board members and NEC for this convention in RENO.  Marni Dodd, P.R. Director, seconded this motion.  A vote was also taken and passed that a $350 cap will be placed on the expenses paid for air travel to and from Reno, Nevada.  Barbara Womack, Treasurer, will be in charge of registration and hotel arrangements for the members planning to attend

No absenses will be counted for the meeting on November 2, 2001.

The next meeting after Mid-Year Convention will take place on November 17th, 2001 at Inner Harbour Hospital in Douglasville, GA.  Amanda Cline, Community Service Director, will be the contact person for this meeting.  There will be a ropes course at 10:00am followed by a clothing drive and board meeting.  All old board members will be encouraged to attend this meeting.

cindy Green agreed to update information onto the website until Elizabeth Hunnicutt can take over this process.

Brandi Dingler, Secretary, moved that the GANS Board elect Claudia Whitmore to be our Alternate Board Member for the 2001-2002 term and Yetta Ingram-Canty and Shelisa McCoy-Taylor to be our retired board members.  Marni Dodd, P.R. Director, seconded this motion.

Kelly Knox, President, announced that Dr. Debbie Hatmaker and Mrs. Julie Behr will be her presidential consultants during her term in office.  Everyone voted affirmatively to this request.

GANS Board meetings will take place on the third Saturday of each month with the exception that there will not be a meeting in December.  The January meeting will take place in Macon, GA on January 12th, 2002.  Time:  TBA.

A committee was developed to talk with GNA about the possibility of designing a joing annual convention in the future.  This team will be made up of the following board members:
     1.  Kelly Knox, President
     2.  Laura Yoho, 1st V.P.
     3.  Marni Dodd, P.R. Director
     4.  Jennifer Menichetti, North District Director
     5.  Claudia Whitmore, alternate committee member

There was some discussion about the convention site for the 50th GANS Annual Convention that will take place in the fall of 2002.  All board members will be responsible for brainstorming ideas and reporting these ideas at the next meeting.

Kelly Knox will write a letter to GNA to send greetings from GANS at the GNA Convention at Jekyll Island next week.

Possible COSP sites for February 2002 include GA Baptist and Emory University.

N&E District Directors will be responsible for working together to organize the Feb. COSP.

S&W District Directors will be responsible for working together to organize the Aug. COSP.
