GANS Board Meeting
July 14, 2001
Macon Medical Center

I. The July board meeting was held at Macon Medical Center. First Vice President Susie Goethe called the meeting to order at 1040.

III. Opening Announcements
A) We discussed the multiple unexcused absences of some of the board members and NEC members.
B) Motions were passed to declare these offices vacant.
C) President Katie Orr will notify the members whose offices have been declared vacant in writing.
D) Current board members were assigned the task of retrieving any materials from these people.
     Katie Orr will be responsible for getting materials from Dallas Reagan
     Mandy Parnacott will be responsible for getting materials from Amy Kessler.
     Kelly Knox will be responsible for getting materials from Primrose Greer.
     Carmen Simmons will be responsible for getting materials from Hayley Foster.
     Yetta Ingram-Canty will be responsible for getting materials from Susan Hunt-Barron.
     Cindy Green Will be responsible for getting materisl from William Macedo.
E) We also discussed possible sites for GANS 2002 Convention. The discussion will be continued at the next meeting.
F) Counsel of School Presidents will be held on August 25, 2001 from 1100-1500 at the Medical Center of Central Georgia who will also be sponsoring this event.
G) Yetta Ingram-Canty and Cindy Green will create and send postcards for COSP by Friday, July 19, 2001.  The postcard will contain the following information:
     All GANS members welcome, Saturday August 25, from 11:00am-3:00 pm
     Lunch will be provided
     Medical Center of Central Georgia in the conference room by the cafeteria

H) Katie will be in charge of securing the food and the location for the August COSP

IV. 2001 GANS Convention
A) We reviewed the budget for the convention and educed the amount of people expected to 100 for Thursday night
B) we reviewed the schedule without any revisions.
C) We reviewed the list of sponsors/exhibitors who have secured their spot for convention:
     Childrens Healthcare of Atlanta
     Memorial Hospital
     Emory University
     Vanderbilt University
     St. Josephs Candler
     Med decks
     Phoebe Putney
     Atlanta Medical Center
     Pulse Magazine
We will be contacting book companies for possible exhibitors.

D) The board members will be contacting those people who have received information but have not responded
E) We discussed alternatives for NEC without a conclusion, it will definitely be decided what we will do by next meeting.
F) We discussed thing we need for registration:
     Computer/ laptop (2)
     Cards for nametags
     Nametag covers
     Board pins
     Ribbons-Candidate, Speaker, Delegate, NCLEX, Faculty/advisor, School President, Board, NEC, Exhibitor,           Campaign Mgr.
     Stickers for the dinner
     Things to fill the bags
     Members list

     Placemats with parliamentary procedure
     School banners and pompoms for opening ceremonies
     Tent Cards for schools and board members

G) October 1st is the cut off date to have a valid membership for convention
H) The delegate ribbons will be given to the school presidents
I) GANS will pay for the hotel rooms for people running registration
J) We also will discuss any audio visual needs we may have
K) 2nd Vice President Sarah Brawner will collect any requested bylaw changes to propose at COSP.
L) Every board member needs to begin working on an annual board report.
N) Claudia Whitmore provided us with a list of confirmed speakers for the convention:

O) We also discussed having a booth for the speakers to promote their own professional organizations.
P) The convention packets passed out at COSP will include information on:
     Convention Registration
     Hotel Registration
     Blood Drive
     Running for Office
     Awards Packet
     Proposed Bylaw Changes
     Call for Resolutions
     T-Shirt information
Q) We will be printing 200 t-shirts with 2 colors maximum
R) Silent Auctions- everyone will need to work on this
S) We also discussed possibilities for the Survivor Challenge. We decided on teams of eight people. Aimee will finish a definite relay.
T) St. Josephs Candler will be donating the bags for the convention.

V. Motions
1) A motion was passed to remove Hayley Foster from her position as Secretary due to multiple unexcused absences.
2) A motion was passed to remove Primrose Greer from her position as North District Director due to multiple unexcused absences.
3) A motion was passed to declare the office of West District Director vacant due to personal reasons.
4) A motion was passed to declare the office of NEC south vacant due to multiple unexcused absences.
5) A motion was passed to declare the office of NEC west vacant due to multiple unexcused absences.
6) A motion was passed to declare the office of NEC north vacant due to multiple unexcused absences.
7) A motion was passed to declare the office of NEC east vacant due to multiple unexcused absences.

Currently the offices of Secretary, North District Director, West District Director, NEC North, NEC South, NEC East, NEC West are vacant.

. President Katie Orr adjourned the meeting at 2:00 pm.  The next meeting will take place at the Macon Medical Center at 0900 on August 25, 2001.
