I. The August board meeting was held at Macon Medical Center. President Katie Orr called the meeting to order at 0915.

III. Opening Announcements
A) There were no announcements unrelated to convention.

IV. 2001 GANS Convention
A) Everyone on the board is to come up with one bylaw change and submit it to Sarah by September 1, 2001.
B) Katie suggested we add section to the bylaws related to what to do in case of a tie.
C) Bill Tye from Delmar, will be doing a nursing skills focus session including a CD-Rom
D) Loretta Manning will be doing a focus session on test taking skills.
E) Claudia is working on a schedule of the focus sessions. Approximately 15 speakers
F) We may possibly have a scholarship focus session.
G) Katie offered to do a latex allergy focus session.
H) Yetta sent letters to requesting people to man the registration booth.
I) We discussed ribbons how many, colors etc.
J) We discussed t-shirts how many in each size and Kelly is going to continue looking for better prices.
K) Board member reports for the year due ASAP.
L) GLN and GNA are both sponsoring the COSP luncheon at convention
M) We reviewed more possible sites for convention 2002. We decided on three different locations in Atlanta to choose from. Claudia will visit each of these sites before next meeting.
N) We received an updated list of exhibitors from Susie.
O) September 14 all advertisements for the EKG are due.
P) September 15 all resolution submissions are due.

V. COSP
A) Schools present:
     Georgia Perimeter College
     Emory University
     Middle Georgia College- Cochran
     Middle Georgia College- Dublin
     Gordon College
     Georgia Southwestern State University
     Georgia College and State University
     State University of West Georgia
B) Packets of information regarding awards and convention were passed out to each school.
C) Sarah reviewed the general convention information.
D) Carmen spoke about activities at convention.
E) Aimee reviewed running for office.
F) Cindy spoke about Midyear convention in Reno.
G) Mandy spoke about awards.
H) Carmen spoke about the AIDS quilt, Inner Harbour, and International Adopt-A-Hospital.
I) Kelly spoke about the BTN project and recruiting new members.
J) Yetta discussed some fundraising ideas.

V. Motions
1) No motions were passed.

Currently the offices of Secretary, North District Director, West District Director, NEC North,
NEC South, NEC East, NEC West are vacant.

VI. Second Vice President Sarah Brawner adjourned the meeting at 2:00 pm.
The next meeting will take place on September 15, 2001 in Macon Georgia at 10:00 location TBA.
