I moved back in September 2000. I am presently working at Northwood
Technologies as a Software Instructor. I teach MapInfo, Vertical Mapper,
deciBel Planner, Fixed Wireless Module, CDMA Module. A few new products are
coming down the pipe soon. I also work on documention of the training
material for the courses and keep them up to date as new products are
released. I work on the product management team. Peter Halpenny from the GIS
graduating class of 1998 also works in this department, as the team leader
of technical support.
The GIS applications developed at Northwood all operate in the MapInfo
environment but cater to the needs of radio frequency engineers who are
developing/managing wireless communication networks. It is kind of wild
stuff actually...I am never bored. :)
Kansas did not work out very well for me and I am happy to get back to
Canada. I gained a lot of valuable experience (ArcInfo training, became an
ESRI authorized instructor, Avenue programming for many months...) but the
owner of the company I worked for was basically a lunatic.
I also drove 3 miles away from a tornado and had a hail storm break all of
the windows in the from of the bungalow I was renting! That's enough
mid-western style excitment for me!
