SETI (Search for Extra Terrestrial Intelligence) is an organization for just that. Searchin for intelligent life in the universe. They do that by aiming radio telescopes at nearby stars in hopes of receiving a signal. And by Joining Bastard SETI you'll be helping them analyze their data! Your computer may discover Alien life!

And don't worry, you won't spend a dime. All it does is use your computer when you don't. SETI@home is a free download. This is strictly volunteer, so you don't get any monitary compensation. And you dont have to join Bastard SETI to use SETI@home. Our group is just a cool way to compare stats with other Bastard fans and band members alike.

The SETI@home program is a special kind of screensaver. Like other screensavers it starts up when you leave your computer unattended, and it shuts down as soon as you return to work. What it does in the interim is unique. While you are getting coffee, or having lunch or sleeping, your computer will be helping the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence by analyzing data specially captured by the world's largest radio telescope. So in screen saver mode your computer will actually be analyzing radio waves from space! And when your computer finishes the data, it will ask you to connect to the internet. And it will send the data to SETI, while giving you new data.
