The 1998 Theta Chi -Zeta Alpha Chapter reunion was held in Sharon,PA on Sat. June 13th. The Main event was our annual scramble golf tournament. The morning got off to a ruff start. As the weather, and Midget brothers were both causing quite a commotion. Brother John Kreuzer was abruptly removed from the Midget Brother line-up. Team captain Dan Angelucci said" he was just an honorary member(John) ,thus he could be removed at anytime." He was quickly replaced by Bob Bolt. Brother Kreuzer bellowed of his contract with the midget brothers. The litigation from this incident should be interesting in the coming months.
After the weather cleared up, all four teams headed onto the course. The line-ups were as follows:
After the first four holes the competition looked very tough. Early indication was that team#2 had taken the lead. James Dunn even tried to take out the competition with his powerful swing ,as hit almost Miller in his cart. A sudden thunderstorm came onto the course. We were told to get of the course by Tam-O-Shanter golf supervisors. We had a fun time racing to beat the rain to the club house. Golf was postponed for about 45 minutes as the storm blew over. However, it was a good time talking, and catching up with fellow brothers.
We all headed back to our positions, after the club officials gave us the ok to resume play. Hole #7 was our first of three challenge holes. At this hole, who every had the longest drive off the tee, would win one of the many prizes. Jeff Miller won this contest. Teammate Chuck Boylan estimated it to be at 330 yards. Club official have sent his club to the PGA offices for investigation at the request of team#2.
As the teams finished up the first nine holes the competetion was very tough. The scores all seemed very even.
On hole #11 the gallery of fans showed up. They were brothers Brenkus, Rusick, and Saboo. They help cheer on the teams, and offer valuable pointers. Especially Zeke, as he showed us his fantastic golfing abilities on the 12th tee.
Hole #14 was the second of our challenge holes. At this hole ,the object was to see which golfer could come closes to the pin (flag) off the tee. This was a par 3 , 115 yards. Brother Gorshin was the winner of this event.
The last of the challenge events was hole #16. On this hole ,the team's worked as an unit. The object was to see which teams second shot came closest to the pin. Team #1 won this event, by placing there second shot only about 5 feet from the flag. This was a par 4- 298 yard hole.
As the teams came to hole # 18 the gallery was loud ,and cheered everyone on as they finished up. After the last putt was sunk, everyone gathered for a group photo , and then headed to the parking lot for award ceremonies and tail-gating party.
Chuck Boylan handed out the awards. The final scores, and positions of the Six Annual Scramble Tournament are as follows:
However, As of press time no winner had been named to the 1st annual " Krepinevich-Tiger Rose". Any nominees?
At the closing of the ceremonies, we all gathered as brothers in a circle, and passed around the bottle of Tiger-Rose. The 1998 golf tournament was now over. Hoping to see you all in 1999!!!!!!!!!
