This game is a beauty. Its mine! Lately, I've had a lot of success playing the French defense. I am trying to steer away from double king pawn openings, and have been playing either 1. ...e6 or 1. ...c5 (the Sicilian)
This game is from a tournament at school, and I played an opponent who is much stronger than I am. I'm psychologically defeated before I sit down at the board, and because of this I very rarely beat him (in fact, I have only 1 recorded win against him!); his tactical skills are sharp, and he moves with lightning speed. Its enough to unnerve any opponent. Therefore when he opened 1. e4 I immediately played 1. ...e6, hoping for a quiet positional struggle (is that possible in a french?!?!), as you will see, this game is quite the antithesis.
I turned the board so you could see it from my perspective as black.
I probably was too liberal with my "!", but it was my game, and I thought that when I made those moves, they deserved a "!".
Anyway, I hope you enjoyed playing through this one. It was short, but sweet. Rob was quite unhappy when he tipped his king *smile*. What a confidence booster!
