Other Stuff

What's other stuff? Stuff I painted that didn't seem to fit into any particular category. Some of it could well fit on my weird art page, but that was getting a bit crowded.

My painting on the left is probably the one and only time I had the desire to sort of "imitate" a work of art of a famous painter. The painting on the right is one by Edvard Munch, entitled Puberty. I love this painting of his, so I decided to do my own version of it, in my own style of painting. Munch is better known for his painting The Scream, but Puberty is my favorite of his works. I also like his Madonna and The Sick Child. If you are interested in his paintings, I found a neat site that shows a few of them with descriptions. Click here if you'd life to see it. The link works now, no guarantee for the future, since URL links seem to come and go on a daily basis.

MEDIA: Acrylic on paper

This is a series of paintings I did revolving around Shiva, the mythological Hindu god. In the painting, second from right, above, I incorporated myself into it, using my face (my self-portraits that I see as me) with Shiva's body and expressions. Shiva comes in many forms . . . dancing Shiva, praying Shiva, known as both the creator and the destroyer of life.

MEDIA: Above and below are mostly watercolor, with a few using a tad bit of other media with the watercolor.

Below are three more Shiva pictures, with my once cat, Normy. I made her pose, sort of, for these pictures, and of course, she wasn't really into Shiva at all. The one on the left shows her holding a copy of the Bhagavad Gita, a Hindu religious epic, and no, I didn't get her to hold that for a pose. She put her paw down at that. Although, from the look on her face, it seems like I made her pose for it, doesn't it? As in, "I demand premium canned cat food for making me pose for this stupid picture." The Shiva in the middle painting is a typical pose of the dancing Shiva, as portrayed in religious paraphenalia for sale, mostly made of brass. As far as Normy's pose, her on the left of the picture is a typical cat curiosity, "What is that I'm looking at?" and then, once she satisifies her curiosity, her below in the picture is on her way to cat napping, using the Gita book as a napping bed. Normy looks rather bored. The painting below right has Shiva in the background and a meditating yogi in the foreground.

I read an article in the paper about a rape victim, so I decided to portray it in art form. Another self-portrait, as in I used myself as a model to draw the woman on the left, the victim. I've been fortunate to not have been a rape victim, but I can understand the emotional turmoil and long-term psychological ramifications that rape can have on the victims, whether the victim be a male or female

MEDIA: Mixed . . . charcoal drawing, newspaper clippings, photocopy

Just weird stuff. The "wrong way" is pretty obvious, but I'll let you decide what the other two paintings are all about.

MEDIA: watercolor, ink, colored pencil
