TURTLE CAKE

1 German chocolate cake mix
1-1/3 c water
3 eggs
1-1/2 sticks oleo
14 oz caramels
1/3 c + 2 T evap. milk
1 c,chopped pecans
12 oz pkg semi-sweet chocolate chips

Combine cake mix, water, eggs and margarine; blend until smooth. Pour 1/2 batter into a greased and floured 9x13 inch pan. Bake 15 minutes at 350 degrees. Melt caramels with milk over low heat; pour over cake while hot. Do not spread to edges of pan. Sprinkle on chocolate chips, then nuts; pour on remaining batter and bake 25 to 30 minutes more at 350 degrees. Serve cold.
