STRAWBERRY OR RASPBERRY JAM STRIPS

1 cup margarine, softened
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup sugar
2-1/2 CUPS flour
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 tsp baking powder
1 egg
1/2 CUP jam

Almond Glaze

Mix margarine, sugars, egg and vanilla. Stir in flour and baking powder. (If dough is soft, cover and refrigerate at least 1 hour.)

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Divide dough into 8 equal parts. Shape each part into strip 8X1-1/2", on ungreased cookie sheet. Make slight indentation down center of each with handle of wooden spoon; fill with jam. Bake until edges are light brown, 10-12 minutes. Cool slightly. Drizzle with Almond Glaze. Cut dizzle diagonally into 1" pieces. About 5 doz bars.

ALMOND GLAZE: Beat 1 cup powdered sugar, 1/2 tsp almond extract and 2-3 tsp water until smooth and of desired consistency.
