SOUR CREAM COFFEE CAKE

1/2 lb butter
1 C sugar
3 eggs
1 C sour cream
2-1/2 C sifted flour
3 t baking powder
1 t baking soda
1 t salt
1 t vanilla
1 t lemon extract

Cream butter and sugar, add eggs one at a time. Add sour cream and mix in dry ingredients. Add flavorings. Place half of butter mixture in a narrow greased pan 9 x 13 and top with half of the following mixture:

1 C chopped nuts
1/2 C sugar
1 t cinnamon

Place remaining mixture over this and finish by sprinkling rest of topping over this.      Bake at 375 degrees for 30 minutes or until done.

Variation: This cake may be made with 1/4 lb butter, 2 eggs, 2 C cake flour, 1/2 t baking powder and rest of the ingredients are the same as above.
