PEANUT BUTTER CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES

1-1/4 cups flour
1/2 cup shortening
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 cup peanut butter
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup gr. sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 egg
1/2 tsp vanilla
1 6 oz pkg (1 cup) semi-sweet chocolate pieces

In a small mixing bowl stir together flour, baking powder, and salt; set aside. In a large mixer bowl beat together shortening and peanut butter for 30 seconds. Add the brown sugar and granulated sugar, beating till mixture is light and fluffy. Add egg and vanilla; beat well. Stir flour mixture into beaten mixture. Stir in the chocolate pieces. Roll dough into I" balls and place 2" apart on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake cookies in a 375 degree oven about 10 minutes or till golden. Cool on wire rack. Makes about 4 dozen.
