The pizza was bountiful in the cafeteria, MTV was still unacceptable, and The Dude had just sat down to watch his fifth consecutive showing of SportsCenter. But all was not well with The Dude. Something had been eating at him...a feeling that gnawed at the very essence of his being. At first he suspected the copious amounts of pizza he had already consumed on this day. But that wasn't it. It was more sinister than mere indigestion. No, this feeling would not subside with ingestion of some Pepto-Bismol. Just then, one of the 7th floor's many anyonymous freshmen burst into the lounge. Naively believing that he was able to watch the lounge TV whenever he wished, the freshman changed the channel. "Whaatrryoudoooooing?" cried The Dude. "Uh, just watching The Simpsons, man. It's 6.00 isn't it?" replied the freshman. "SMIPSONS!!!" Andy exclaimed. "NOAAAAUUGGGHH! You ALWAYS have to watch the SMIPSONS dontcha?!!" With those words, The Dude stormed out of the lounge and into the hallway. He suddenly realized the source of his strange feeling. The source emanated from Los Angeles, California. The 20th Century Fox building, to be precise. The Dude had a new mission in life--to destroy 20th Century Fox (makers of the Simpsons) and all who oppose him in doing so. ================================================================================ >:::The following added 1998/10/16 15:33 by JY01STU >:: Vacuum boy The walls have ears, bitch!!! But how would he get there, he wondered. He had no car to speak of, and his driving skills were still unrefined. He would have to ask a floormate, he decided. And so he went to the nearest room to his own to ask the occupant to drive him there. The room's occupant was sitting on his couch in the room with his girlfriend cuddled up beside him. The Dude thought nothing of walking right in, and he began talking to them both. "Hello, Steve," he grumbled, and then more quietly added, "Hi, Sarah." "hi Andy," said the room's occupant with a sigh. "Steve, I need to go to California," Andy said suddenly. "why are you going to California?" Steve asked. The Dude mumbled, "I'm going to destroy the people who make the Smipsons." Steve, who was hard of hearing, did not understand what the Dude had said, but because he was too engrossed in watching the Smipsons himself to care, he merely replied, "Ok." And so Andy walked out of the room triumphantly, happy that his floormate had so graciously agreed to take him to California. But, the dude realized, he still had a lot of preparing to do before he could leave, so he wandered back into his room to get himself ready to go. ================================================================================ >:::The following added 1998/10/18 17:31 by GL81STU >:: MBC Balls Out "OK", mumbled the Dude, "that's one Digni-Fries box full of Towncraft underwear, and one full of black jeans and Cardinals shirts." "I've got all my emergency money, and Mini-Electronic-Travel-Skip-Oh, that should about do it." With that, he checked the Weather Channel's web page one more time to make sure they would have a safe and comfortable trip West, and then went to Steve's room to see if he was ready to go. But Steve was not there. "Oh well... he prahbly wouldn't mind if I went and loaded my stuff in his car," thought the Dude " I'll just barrh his keys and be back in a minute." ================================================================================ >:::The following added 1998/10/18 23:15 by TY19STU >:: The Progger everything must go With keys in hand The Dude wandered out into the lounge just as the stinkbait arrived. As tempted as he was to ride it up and down the building a few times to look for stolen furniture, his mind would not let him fall prey to such petty desires. As he rode down, The Dude had time to think about the events of the past few days. "Bhkxkl;tkjjjj=8849-," he thought to himself. "BBeikjdhrkfjdkfj39eurpz./," he mused as the stinkbait reached the first floor. Soon The Dude had reached Steve's car. He somehow managed to open the trunk and load both Digni-Fries boxes into it. The hand-held electronic Skip-Bo stayed with The Dude. It was a fine way to relieve boredom and stress. "Who caaaares if NO-ONE likkjklnfsn Skipbo, it's kjnkasdnfk." he muttered. Suddenly, a thought raced through The Dude's cluttered mind. Should he just take Steve's car? He did have the keys---and his gear was already loaded. Surely Steve would be occupied with other things and not notice his car was gone until The Dude was well out of Cape. The Dude stared at the keys. This decision would require a game of Skip-Bo...possibly even also one of the portable electronic Battleship he secretly kept in his poket... ================================================================================ >:::The following added 1998/11/02 00:22 by JY01STU >:: Vacuum boy eight months and three days Before he could begin his first game, he noticed that some clouds were looming ominously on the horizon. "Hmmph," thought the Dude. "I lost my umbrella. And the Weather Channel predicted rain for the next couple days." The eminent downpour clinched it in the Dude's mind; even though he didn't know how to drive, he would have to take Steve's car, if not all the way to California thAN AT least to Wal-Mart. And so he did. But at Wal-Mart he deemed all the wares they were peddling there unacceptable. "Quick question," he mumbled to a clerk there, "are these all the umbrellas you have?" "Uh, yeah," said the pimply adolescent. "There's gotta be at least two hundred umbrellas there in the umbrela center." "Well, heaven sakes," exclaimed the Dude. "You'd think there'd be at least one GOOD one here." "I'm sorry," the clerk apologized. "Think about this," the Dude continued. "How much do these dinky little things cover you? NOT AT ALL. Think about that." And the dude stood there, staring at the clerk. The clerk, not knowing what else to do and feeling kind of nervous under Andy's watchful eye, said, "I will" and then promptly ran away. Andy, thwarted in his attempt to find an umbrella, grumbled a little and then decided to drive back to Towers to hide out there until the miserable rain ceased. ================================================================================ >:::The following added 1998/11/04 12:29 by GL81STU >:: MBC Balls Out Of course, the Dude was a novice driver at best, and on this particular afternoon he was driving much like he often walks - half on the road, half off. This eratic driving caught the attention of one of Cape Girardeau's finest motorcycle cops, who was in a bad mood already what with all those people across from Imo's calling him "Ponch" all through the Homecoming Parade. "Alright, let's see what Mr. ElveChicken has to say for himself", he said as he turned on his cherries and pulled in behind Kammler. Fortunately, Kammler watches enough TV so that he knew you are supposed to pull over in this situation, although he was very agitated at the delay. "Hey buddy, the reason we have these nice big lanes is so that you don't have to drive through people's yards" explained Ponch as he stuck his head in the LoveChicken's driver side window. Kammler sighed heavily and replied, "Iwas$(miungbakfrumW@lMart*& tryin toge$*anUMBRELLA%)$hjtiuh..." "Sir, have you been drinking?" asked the cop. And without waiting for an answer, "Step out of the vehicle please sir." Kammler sighed even heavier, and began mumbling even more incoherently as he became more and more agitated. "SLow down buddy, what are you so fired up about? the cop inquired. WIth that a wave of emotions swept over the Dude, because he was reminded of why he went to Wal-Mart in the first place - to get an umbrella so that he could go to California and kill the Smipsons. Oh how the Smipsons would pay - but not if he couldn't get out of Cape. This infuriated the Dude even more, and as he stepped out of Steve's car, he eyed the officer's service pistol... ================================================================================ >:::The following added 1998/11/05 22:50 by KR53STU >:: The Hunter Gamma Delta Iota...Once you lose it, it's gone... After slight consideration, however, even the Dude realized that pulling a police officer's weapon to threaten the officer was not the best way to ensure a trip to California. After going through all of the required sobriety tests, the officer wasn't sure what was wrong, but he had decided the Dude was not drunk. He decided to put a few points on the Dude's newly acquired license and let it go at that. The Dude was not at all happy about having points, although he wasn't sure what that meant, but he decided to accept it and go on. When the Dude returned to Towers, he decided it was time to go. He went to collect Steve. He found Steve asleep on his couch, snuggled up against his snoozing significant other, of course. This put the Dude in an odd predicament. He was ready to go, but he didn't want to wake Steve. He also didn't want to take Steve's car without Steve. A game of Skip-Bo later, the Dude had come to an obvious decision. He lifted Steve gently from the couch and turned to leave. As an after- thought, he realized Steve would want Sarah along, so the Dude lifted her and was off with one over each shoulder (the Dude is stronger than even he realizes). He placed them together in the back seat of the Love Chicken, and they were off. Everyone just assumed the Dude was in his room, and no one thought to call him until late that evening. When everyone realized the Dude was missing, too, they gave up the idea that Steve and Sarah had eloped and became worried about their whereabouts. Steve and Sarah's families had soon put out an APB for a blue car with a yellow bumper sporting Love Chicken tags. However, the Dude was making so much noise at that time he had to leave the car. "mphmhSimpsonmphs musdht stdie" the Dude was mumbling over and over to himself. As Steve got out of the car, he looked around, looking for some clue as to where in time they were. Seeing nothing, (they were, after all, on an abandoned stretch of road), he got back in the car. "Maybe," he thought to himself, "if I turn on the radio, there will be some sort of news report on that will give me some idea." As he began flipping for channels on the radio, he couldn't believe what he was hearing. There were sounds of Winger, Poison, Guns N Roses, Tiffany, Debbie Gibson, and many others. He looked down at his watch, hoping by some miracle that it was 80's old school lunch time on 104.7, but the watch said 2:43. "Oh my God, we're stuck in the 80's!" And with those words, Andy hit his still-anonymous "friend" over the head with a Weather Channel-approved umbrella. He quickly climbed into the front seat and took control of the wheel. Unfortunately for the Dude, "control" was a term that didn't apply to him. *Especially* to the way he drove. The car started out going in a straight enough line, but after a few miles of driving, the car started to waver. "What the hell is going on ahead of us?!" cried out Steve in bewilderment. "He's going to crash!!!" Back in the now Dude-driven car, Andy mumbled to himself. "Where are the MAPSkjkm32983mccn¶>@! in this car?" Getting to Los Angeles was now the least of the Dude's worries. The speed of the Lovechicken broke eighty-eight miles per hour mere inches from the car the Dude was driving, and it catapulted back to the future. When they arrived again in 1998, the very first thing steve did was stop at the nearest auto body shop to get some badly needed repairs done. "But Steve," Sarah said to him as he stopped at this auto mechanic shop in the middle of nowhere. "how are you going to pay for the repairs? You're broke!" "No I'm not," said Steve and he showed her his wallet which was bulging with cash. "How did you gat all that money?" Sarah asked. "I went a couple of years into the future the other day and sold some stuff. What I did was I went there first and checked to see which comic books that were being released right now would be worth a ton of money in the future, then came back and bought a couple copies, and then went back to the future to sell them." "Wait a minute," said Sarah, looking closer at the money. "These bills were printed in 2000!" Steve looked at the wad of twenties he had in his billfold. "whoops! I was just so happy to get the new $20s with the humongous Andrew Jackson head that I didn't even look at the date!" Sarah sighed. "You dufus. Oh, well. hopefully, the mechanic won't notice either." She looked up and saw that the mechanic was coming their way. "Play it cool. Here he comes." Steve turned to face the mechanic approaching the Lovechicken and saw a face he found strangely familiar, but that he couldn't quite place. The mechanic spoke to him and said, "what do you need, mister?" "Ummm... yeah... my brakes went out. I need to get 'em fixed," Steve said as he tried to remember where he knew this guy from. "It'll cost ya, and it'll take a while too," the mechanic said. "We've got money and we can wait," said Sarah. "Alright, pull 'er in the garage there and I'll get to work," the mechanic said. That done, Steve and Sarah took a seat on the curb in front of the shop and waited patiently. "I know that guy from somewhere," Steve wondered aloud. "I have no idea what you're talking about," said sarah. "I don't recognize him." "Well, I'm sure I'll think of it later," steve said. "Anyway, so as soon as he's done we've got to go back and try to cut things off from the beginning. We can't go as far back as before we got into the car with him, because that would create a paradox, but if we pick him up before he gets into that other car, everything should be Ok with the timelines." "What do you mean, go back?" Sarah asked angrily. "We're home already. We're not going back for him." "But we can't just leave him there!" "If we do, then he'll never bug us or anyone from the floor again," sarah rationalized. "If we don't then he might just change all of history and eradicate our timeline," said Steve. "and besides, who's to say he wouldn't some back to SEMo eventually? and then there would be TWO Andys roaming around campus!" "EEEEEWWWW!" squealed Sarah. "You're right. As much as I hate to admit it, we're going to have to go back for him." Just then the mechanic came out to talk to Steve and Sarah. "Well, I got her all fixed up now. She's ready to go." "Already? WOW! That was fast!" exclaimed Steve. "How much will it run me?" "800 bucks." "what?????" "Yeah, I had to replace your entire brake system. The whole thing was shot," the mechanic explained. "Parts alone cost about $300." "And labor was the rest?" Sarah yelled at him. "You worked for all of five minutes and that's five hundred dollars?!?!" "Yup." "Don't worry about it, hon," Steve said, trying to assuage the irate Sarah before she had an anuerysm. "I'll pay it." He handed a thick wad of twenties to the mechanic, who took it and went back into the shop. Moments later he came back. "Here's your receipt," the mechanic said and handed a piece of paper to Steve. Steve and Sarah started walking to the Lovechicken until Steve suddenly stopped dead in his tracks. He had been reading the receipt as he walked, but upon reading the logo at the top he froze. As Steve again read the top of the receipt, the name of the auto shop, "Rengel's Auto Repair," made him realize where he recognized the mechanic from. Any way, he earned a fortune playing slots and counting cards at the poker tables. Then, he bought MTV and liquidated it, completely. He lost a bundle, and no-one knew why until several years later. He was slowly buying radio stations, changing their formats, and selling them. Everybody said he was kind of odd and didn't seem like a buisiness man, but somehow he managed to stay afloat with his weird practices. It took a while before everyone realized that almost all of the stations were country music. Suddenly, in 1992, the Dude ran for President. He beat some guy from Arkansas for the democratic nomination because people said he was easier to understand. He took the election because everyone apparently had a huge brain fart that year or something, and he acted like he was everyone's friend, increased social programs and kept everyone happy. What we didn't know was that he was secretly subsidizing country music while raising taxes on all other forms of music. Somehow, he was re-elected in '96, and, upon learning he couldn't run again, he went nuts. He made Garth Brooks minister of music and made Minister of Music a cabinet level position. Then, by making some power plays in Congress with the help of his VP, Shania Twain, the Dude got all other forms of music outlawed." "That's horrible," said Steve. "At least there's still...wait, have you ever heard of the Simpsons? The cartoon on Fox?" "Cartoons on Fox? You two have been out of it. Fox has been an all weather chanel since the Dude bought it in 1987," said Mike. "One last question." said Sarah. "Why are you a mechanic and not a computer science major at SEMO?" "Funny thing is," said Mike with a surprised look on his face, "I was, that's why I'm in Cape, but in the Spring of '97, the Dude ran a successful campaign to have SEMO shut down. It was if the University had wronged him in another life. He kept mumbling about propped doors." "That's it," said Steve, "he took our music, our tv shows, and our school, we're going back..."
