Back again, I assume. Well, here it is. I am writing this at 3:45 a.m. on July the 8th of 2001. I am, as those of you who know me in the physical world are aware, a regular sufferer of insomnia.

(oh no, the last rant was aimless, and this one is about him not being able to sleep...)

Not at all, rant reader, I was simply stating a fact before getting into the main rant. I actually have decided to dedicate this one to summer school...

(Now there's an exciting topic...where is that back button...)

The one on your browser is at the top left corner of the screen, and the one in this rant is to be found in the bottom left hand corner of the page. As you can tell, I'm in a funny kind of mood when my insomnia hits. If you would like, I'll get on with the summer school discussion now...

(Well, I've read this far...)

Very good. I never took summer classes before this summer. It's an odd experience to have a whole graduate level seminar packed into 4 weeks. It's really fast paced, and we met (yes, it is over now) 2 1/2 hours a day, 4 days a week. It was a good class, just really rushed. I don't think I like taking summer classes much.

(glad I hung around for that, I am...)

If you're done complaing...

Good, as I was saying, I don't like taking summer classes very much, but teaching them is something entirely different. As anyone who has read all of my previous rants would know, I had problems with some undermotivated students my last two semesters. The summer has been completely different. My students are, on average, more active and enthusiastic. This is the class I would've had if I could've hand picked students. I had good students the last two semesters, but all around, this summer is better.
Also, I only have 18 students total. Last semester I had 70. I feel that I get to connect better with them now. This is really just reinforcing the idea that I may end up as a professor somewhere instead of in full time private practice. Summer classes, from the instructing side, are great, and, if you're a motivated undergrad, may be the way to go. More attention and better classmates can't hurt the learning experience.

(I still feel like I've wasted my time...)

Then go back to the main page and tell me about it in the guestbook. Only two people have signed since the newest edition was added, and, unless you are Gwar or Progger, you haven't. Anyway, sorry for the funny mood, but maybe this is slightly entertaining. See ya next time...

Feel free to comment in the guest book or e-mail me at [email protected].
