It's been a while, so how 'bout a random rambling...

First off, I'm finished with my first two classes as a TA. A lot of my students did poorly, but I enjoyed the semester as a whole, and a few of the students really made it a good exprience. I just didn't want to leave my last rant as the last word on them.

I found a threat greater than bicycles. Carbondale and SIU are both completely unprepared for snow. The walks in town and on campus are sheets of ice (what isn't covered with piles of snow from the roads). Many of the smaller roads still aren't cleared. The university even opted not to use anything on their sidewalks because it would damage the relatively new concrete. I personally know of at least two people falling. How many legal battles equal one slightly eroded sidewalk...

I'm still single, as far as I know. If I'm not, someone should inform me. (Yes, there is some ambiguity on this one that anyone who knows me well will understand). I have found an intense desire to not spend next semester single.

Speaking of next semester, this one is done. I have now finished a full semester of graduate school. It feels great. Only 4 1/2 years left until I get my doctorate and can go to work.

Finally, on Monday I will be going in for my knee surgery. I'm a little nervous, but I can't wait to be fully active again. I won't be on-line much at all over break, so don't expect any updates before mid-January at the earliest.

Merry Christmas, everyone.
