Here it is, the first rant of a new millenium and a new century (if you disagree with this statement, contact me and I'll explain). First, a little update is in order, then I've got a couple of things to talk about. Those huge piles of snow are still here as little piles of snow on the sidewalks. Ridiculous. I've also decided that I'm not really that worried about whether or not I'm single for this whole semester. I guess I was just in one of my mood swings when I wrote the last rant.

On with the new stuff. I'm still recovering from my surgery. It was not fun at all. I was on crutches for about two weeks, and I'm still in a hinged knee brace. I'll be in physical therapy for another couple of months, at least. When I tore my ACL I was in pain for about thirty minutes. I was on pain medication (the "good stuff") for a full week after this surgery, and it still hurts if I move it the wrong way. The surgery is much worse than the original injury in this case. All that said, my recovery is going faster than expected, I am beginning to be able to see the light at the end of the tunnel, and it will be nice to be able to do athletic stuff again.

I bought books earlier today (and I still have one to buy). I went to three bookstores trying to find as many used as possible. I'm still already in for over three hundred dollars in books. One book was one hundred by itself (before tax), and none of the three stores had it used, of course. It is sad how publishers take advantage of students that way. They know we have to buy the books regardless of what they charge, and they also have to konw that we aren't exactly raking in the big bucks yet. I don't say this very often, but I really miss SEMO. Blessed be text book rental...
