My great-great-grandfather William Robert Mayton was enlisted in the 56th
Virginia Infantry, Company E, (Ebenezer Grays). He is buried in Lakeview
Cemetery, located in Blackstone, Virginia.  He was wounded at the Battles of
Gettysburg and Cold Harbor.  His brother, Elisha Richard Mayton was also
enlisted in the Civil War and died in Mecklenburg County, Virginia.  His
burial is unknown.
