Maj. Joseph Cloyd
Born May 11, 1813
Died July 19, 1884 (CSA marker
Major Cloyd's stone is unusual. He was owner of the farm where the famous battle of "Cloyd's Farm" occurred on May 10, 1864. Further inscription on his stone reads: "He was born on Back Creek, Pulaski Co. Va. and spent his long and useful life in the same community. Renowned alike as a citizen, a Patriot, and a Christian gentleman. His memory is cherished in the hearts of those who knew him most intimately and his generous deeds will speak of his benevolence when the memory of man shall have faded away."

Another tribute on the stone of Chas. H. King. It reads: "Citizen, patriot, soldier, Excellent in all. Served the Confederacy 1861 - 1865. Co. F, 24 Va. Reg. Kemper's Brig. Pickett's Div."
