NE Texas Confederate dead
Among my ancestors who served in the Civil War are:
Alexander Hart Robertson Bryant, Capt. (also served in Mexican-American
war)
Claiborne Roberts Bryant, Pvt. (also served in Mexican-American war)
Joseph R. Bryant, Pvt.
and William Mitcheltree Bryant
I'm not sure about William's unit, but I believe it was 9th Tex. Cav.,
Co. E., see roster at http://gen.1starnet.com/civilwar/9cvrost.htm
William died at Iuka, MS in October 1962 (Note: There is also a Pvt.
Wm. Bryant, who enlisted in Red River Co., Texas in the 29th Tex. Cav.,
Co. D. Maybe he enlisted in one unit and transferred to another, or
perhaps there was another Wm. Bryant in Red River Co., TX who enlisted?)
For roster of 34th Tex Cav, aka 2nd Partison Rangers See
http://gen.1starnet.com/civilwar/34cvrost.htm
34th Tex Cav organized at Ft. Washita, IT, Apr. 17, 1862,
surrendered May 26, 1865.
Alexander Hart Robertson Bryant and
Claiborne Roberts Bryant died after the war at Pilot Pt., Denton Co.,
Texas. Believe they are both buried at Pilot Pt. Cemetery, but no grave
markings, no confirmation.
Joseph R. Bryant died at Celina, Collin Co., Texas, but is buried in
Pilot Pt., Denton Co.
I haven't located a burial yet for Wm. Mitcheltree Bryant, but suspect
it is probably in Iuka, MS, where he died.
I have obits for Alexander and Joseph, and copies of Joseph's and wife's
pension apps.
