born October 30, 1844 Died May 6, 1908
Grandpa lost his right arm in a skirmish days before the Seige of Vicksburg,
Mississippi and received a pension for his service. He served with his 3 brothers in The
War Between The States. He was ordained a Primitive Baptist Minister in November 1871
serving churches in Butler, Covington, Crenshaw and Conecuh counties. He was clerk of the
Antioch Primitive Baptist Association for 30 years. Elder George W. Lee founded 3 churches
which are still going strong today, he was a pastor of the church where he is buried ,
Elizabeth Primitive Baptist Church for 30 years. He was also tax collector of Butler
County, state legislator and fathered 14 children.
