William, how does one go about putting a soldier buried in an
"anonymous" grave up on your site?
I have a real good one for you with this guy.
Phillips Legion Infantry Battalion. Goes in at the start. Wounded three times.
While home in Ga in1864 recovering from his third wound (received at Cold Harbor) he is
captured by Federals and executed as a spy at Burnt Hickory. Story is documented in Bartow
County Heritage Vol I and even has a pic of him in Georgia state uniform. Story says he's
buried in family graveyard without a stone.

William,
I did not realize that you were going to put Virgil Brown up so quickly.
Here's the pertinent info on him for inclusion.
He was born July 4, 1842 in Cass (later Bartow County to Vincent Brown and Leannah
Henderson Brown.
He enlisted in Co D (The Polk County Rifles) of the Phillips Legion's Infantry Battalion
June 11, 1861. He was wounded at Gettysburg in 1863 and then again at Cold Harbor June 1,
1864. After being treated at a Virginia hospital, he was furloughed home to Georgia on
June 17th. It was while at home recuperating in Van Wert, Ga that he was arrested by Union
soldiers, charged with spying and executed at Burnt Hickory. His body was recovered by his
people and today lies in an unmarked grave either at his mother's farm in Van Wert or in
one of the unmarked graves next to his father at the Stidham-Henderson cemetery. The final
entry in his service record simply states "captured at home and murdered by the
Enemy".
There is an excellent uniformed photo of him in Bartow Heritage, Volume I.
