David Ricardo

| Biografia |
David Ricardo nasceu em Londres, na Inglaterra. Dois anos antes de morrer,
fundou o Clube de Economia Política, em 1821.
| Contribuição |
Sua principal contribuição foi o princípio dos
rendimentos decrescentes, devido a renda das terras. Tentou deduzir um
teoria do valor a partir da aplicação do trabalho.
Outra contribuição foi a Lei do Custo Comparativo, que
demonstrava os benefícios advindos de uma especialização
internacional na composição dos commodities do comércio
internacional. Este foi o principal argumento do Livre Comércio,
aplicado pela Inglaterra, durante o século XIX, exportando manufaturas
e importando matérias primas.

David Ricardo é reconhecido como o sucessor de Adam Smith. Foi
o economista mais influente de sua época, e a influência de
seu trabalho se manteria por décadas, até 1870.
