Alpha Kappa Alpha is the epitome of class, sophistication, and intellect.

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. was organized to cultivate and encourage high scholastic and ethical standards, to promote unity and friendship among college women, to study and help alleviate problems concerning girls and women, to maintain a progressive interest in college life, and to be a service to all mankind.

History of Upsilon Psi Omega Chapter

The quest to charter Upsilon Psi Omega began on November 23, 1997 with a feasibility meeting attended by six Alpha Kappa Alpha women. On January 5, 1998, twenty three women decided there was sufficient interest to begin the process required to establish a third graduate chapter in Nashville, Tennessee. All required credentials were submitted to the International Office. On March 7, 1998, the International Board gave an affirmative vote to the credentials submitted. On March 14, 1998 at the South Eastern Regional Conference, Regional Director, Vanessa Rogers Long, chartered Upsilon Psi Omega with 30 members.
