The Jackal's View of Traffic

The traffic situation has greatly improved since the times of the 20th and 21st
centuries. I guess the fact that there are now tens of millions less
vehicles on the roads has helped the situation. Only in big or medium cities,
and then only during peak traffic periods such as rush hour, will you see any
traffic conjestion. Traffic jams are a thing of the past. Pedestrians
can usually cross the road at any one time without having to worry about
a thousand cars creaming him.

The invention of the hover vehicle is one major contributor to the traffic
situation. By flying above the main streets, you can avoid many of the traffic
conciderations that has caused problems before. You don't have to worry about
pedestrians, cars backing out of parking spots, parallel parking, etc ...
This has made the hover vehicle very popular in urban centres. So much so
that new rules governing hover vehicle traffic have had to be made.
Electronic roadways displayed on the hover vehicle HUD (Heads Up Display)
guides all vehicle traffic. Instead of having multiple lanes of traffic,
you now have electronic "tunnels" that guide you. These tunnels can be
created side-by-side, or stacked thanks to the new 3D aspect of modern traffic.

When accidents do occur, they are rarely fatal. Invention of new super-strong
alloys have made vehicles very resilient to damage. New advances in passenger
protection methods have also helped when crashes occur. Only people driving
older vehicles are at any significant risks of dying due to a vehicle crash.
If they do crash though, well ... adios amigo.
