The Jackal's View of Ley Lines

Ley lines are mystical consolidations of natural potential psychic
energy(PPE). These lines run in straight lines across the face of the planet,
intersecting each other at locations called nexus points. The more ley
lines that intersect at a nexus, the greater the energy at that point.
Before the great war, the lines were very weak and invisible to the world.
With the influx of energy after the war, however, they have grown in power
considerably. Ley lines are always about 800 m in length, and completely
invisible during the day. The length of any ley line can be anywhere
from a couple of km to several hundred km long. Regardless of other
factors, ley lines are completely intangible.

Nobody really knows the source of all the PPE contained in these nearly
inexhaustible sources of energy, but I have heard a couple of theories.
Some say that the earth itself is a living entity and supplies the base of
the PPE in these lines. Others, more fearful of magic, suggest that the base
of the PPE comes from demonic forces. I think, and many agree with me,
that the living creatures of the earth alone have been supplying the ley lines
with energy since the beginning of time. What is universally agreed,
is that all living creatures have PPE.

During the great war, many living things died. This caused a great deal
of PPE to be released into the environment. This energy collected along the
already existing ley lines, and voila! Instant Earth soup. For some reason,
the energy is further amplified on certain days of the year, or certain
celestial events (like an eclipse). The one advantage that the lines
provide is that they can be used by men of magic as an energy source.
However, this has problems of its own.

As an energy source, it produces a field of energy. This means that
magic is amplified near one of these lines. It also means that communication
is nearly impossible across ley lines because of the interferance produced.
This is just my theory, but I think that psychics are the direct result of
these ley line fields of energy. Like cancer that was the result of being
too close to power lines in the 20th century, psychic ability might very
well be the result of a similar process with ley lines. Just a theory.
