Like when it is being redirected between the two en-Kor guys in my furnace of
rath example.

I think that each time the damage is redirected, it is assigned. Therefore, a
new batch of effects happen in damage prevention (like the doubling of damage).
I agree that it is a very confusing setup, but we have to rely on the experts
interpretation.
