Furnace of Rath
Triggers when damage is assigned, so it is
handled at the start of the
damage prevention step (see Rule T.10.1). [D'Angelo 06/05/98]
If you have two of these in play, the damage
is multiplied by 4.
[D'Angelo 10/17/97]
The multiplied damage counts in all ways as
if it came from the
original source. Furnace of Rath is not the source. [D'Angelo 10/17/97]
Does double damage (again) when the damage
is being redirected from
one place to another. [WotC Rules Team 12/18/97] [Duelist Magazine
#22, Page
27] Trample counts as redirection. [D'Angelo
12/29/97]
If damage is split as with Fireball, the damage
to each target is
individually doubled. [Aahz 11/17/97]
I think there _must_ be an irrata on this. I can not find
one though.
This is just stupid! I have no idea why they would allow a card
that would
do shit like this to ever be printed. This is just stupid.
I am tottaly
wrong about the damage and redirection. I am so pissed off.
I can
understand tottaly why this is just a stupid card. Fuck.
that just makes
me think less of wizards of the coast.
What confuses me about this redirection thing is that in the list
of
effects and how to handle things, it say handle all effects that trigger
when damage is assigned. This would be the furnace of Wrath effect.
Then
the next step is '2. Main Part of Damage Prevention - Play any number
of
Batches (see Rule T.8) of spells and abilities which either prevent
or
redirect damage.'. Now normally I would assume that this is after
the
effect that trigger when damage is assigned. so continually redirecting
the damage would _not_ double. Yet in the rulings that I have
found it
says that the damage will double. This is confusing me.
going to go. talk to ya later...

PS: I have mailed this problem I am having to this wizards guy.
I hope he
can straighten me out.
