Actually, the ability of theirs is an instant effect. It will occur whenever
you decide to redirect damage (i.e. whenever damage is assigned). Why can I not
redirect damage to the mog? Even if it does occur in the damage prevention
phase, it is still a redirecting damage action. I think where you are getting
confused is that *** YOU  *** cannot use any spells or effects during the damage
prevention phase except for those that prevent or redirect damage. This does not
mean that all other effects shut off. The guy that showed this to me was a
fairly experienced tournament player, and said that he showed this combo to a
tourney ref whom acknowledged the combo.
