Tell me if I'm in the minority here. Is it a normal reaction to get so frustrated with a person, that when you're by yourself you are literally talking to yourself, telling yourself what you should have said to somebody? Way after the fact, and with vengence burning in your mind?
When we got back to the Kibbutz, we no longer had to deal with Oded, who was the behind scenes organizer of our program, and also is quite possibly the biggest male jerk I've ever met. Michal came, and introduced us to Ilan. I have nothing bad to say about this guy, he has not done anything offensive to us since we came. He has been a very helpful and nice person. It is so uncharacteristic of the year.
So, after we had been introduced to Ilan, and the meeting was dying down I thought it would be a good time to get some of the anger off my chest. I was still furious about what had happened at Peduel, and I was contemplating suing. But, I had told myself that surely these people just made some mistakes, there's no reason to sue. So, I figured I'd be OK if only I could laugh with them on the mistakes they had made.
So, I went to Michal, and as lightly as I could put it, asked, "So, now that it's over, don't you guys think you did a little bit wrong by sending us to Peduel?"
"What do you mean?"
"You know, you kind of put us there without warning, then you wouldn't let us leave, the accommodations were pretty bad, we couldn't get food, which made not leaving all that worse, playing the mickey mouse games as to where the Yeshiva is, keeping us there because of Benjy... you know, all that stuff."
"No."
"Nothing? You didn't do anything wrong at all?"
"Well, did the group go to all the classes at Peduel?"
"Well, no, but we didn't put into writing that we would..."
"Eh, you're eh, just trying to be smart. I mean what do you think you can really get now that it's over?"
"An apology."
"You're not going to get one. We have to go now." She tapped Ilan on the shoulder and signaled that they were leaving.
He got up they left, and I overheard him say in hebrew, "What was that about?"
"Nothing, don't worry about him. He just likes to complain."
