Life's Illusions

Anyone reading this with the classical font will suggest I take another English grammar class, or run my spell check more often, because of the way the apostrophe appears in the text. The font makes the apostrophe appear like an accented 'I.' The title I've written thus looks more like "Lifeis" and not "Life's." I have come to realize that what you see isnt always the same thing as what it really is.

The ever-smiling guy next door isnt always happy, sometimes its just a front to hide the pain inside.

The best speaker in class isnt always confident in the speech. S/hes just hoping everyone else believes that s/he is right.

The most beautiful girl in class isnt always pleased about her beauty.

The guy driving the convertible may not really be happy with it, who knows how much he has spent on getting it on the road?

The girl everyone else calls a tramp may still be a virgin; shes probably scared of being left out.

Woven tales, pretense, lies, illusions, these are all part of our everyday lives. The perfect date, the perfect husband, the perfect little girl. If there are really people and things that are perfect, then why dont we have a perfect world? Why do people go out of their way to be nice today and very inconsiderate the next? Why is it that people get married to the perfect partners and the next thing you know they have irreconcilable differences and are on their way to a divorce court? Why go through all the trouble of creating a front? Almost everyone knows that illusions never last. I dont have the answers, but in my opinion I don't think anyone knows what perfect is. We all just assume that we do and try to recreate perfection. How about this theory, for at least a week, we all be ourselves, we do whatever it is we want to do without giving a thought to what everyone else might think. Maybe well just find perfect somewhere around. I think we have the perfect world. The search for perfection and the creation of illusions is what is stopping it from being perfect.
