Todays match against Blackburn was hard to watch. It was hard fought, with both sides having the chances to take the points.
The match started of pretty evenly with the first chance going to Blackburn from a corner.
But after this we fought back with a good spell of decent flowing footy which resulted in a great goal by Nick Anelka to put us up 1-0 on 25. This was his first chance of the game so I was pretty pleased!!!
Anelka was playing alot better than his latest Europe game where he really annoyed me by his lack of enthusiasm.
After our goal Blackburn really put the pressure on us and I was surprised that they didn't score!!!
Instead, they gave away a free kick on the edge of their area which Manu Petit score from with the help of a sizable deflection on 39.
We held onto this lead until half time when Blackburn subbed Wikox for Davies, whereas we kept oue starting line-up.
The second half stared off as the first left, with Blackburn playing the dominant part of the game while we just played scrappy footy which wasn't going to get us anywhere.
During this period both Anelka and Ljundberg (who was having a great game!!!) came close but missed their chances.
At the opposite end Blackburns pressure finally paid off with a great diving header from Damien Johnson which connected with a great cross via Petit.
Things to note in this half were the increasing tension between our players and Chris Sutton who TWICE went in hard, once on Vieira with both feet to get himself sent off!!! He headed down to the changing rooms with a bloody nose from his various battles from our players
Sherwood had also earlier gone in hard on Vieira to get a booking!!!
