Joseph's Unbelievable Weekend in the San Blas Islands continues...

We danced on the docks under the spectacular moonlight. The moon was right above us and shining really bright. The water was clear and shallow and lightened by the moonlight. It was really an amazing scene that you have to see for yourself to believe. While dancing, I thought to myself, "I came to Panama hoping to learn Latin dancing from a Latino girl, but instead I'm learning it from an American girl." Go figure!

After dancing, I went to bed that night, giddy as a schoolgirl again. I thought to myself, "I could have been stuck on this island with two of my co-workers who seemed to only want to read their novels and talk about stuff I had no interest in (no offence guys); instead, I have the company of four young, fun-loving female students. "

"I'm such a lucky bastard."

Next day, we went on a little island hopping tour. We saw a few Kuna villages. The tours are more a way for them to sell us their stuff. It sort of felt uncomfortable to walk around and impede in their lives and not buy anything. Then, it was off to another island with the girls.

That evening we played cards again. I learned Spades and English Bullshit - very fun. Then I danced again under the moonlight light. I slept on the hammocks by the beach that night. I saw the moon set as the stars came out. In the morning I saw the sunrise, and heard the waves crash on the shores and the birds sing. That may not sound too spectacular, but it is hard to explain that night in words.

That morning, we left and flew back to Panama City. I felt sad, I didn't want to leave. Every moment in San Blas was picture perfect and I will remember them forever.

The picture on the left is what you call a Kuna toilet. You piss or crap right into the Carribean. The fish seem to like it, they "eat it all up" (literally). The worst part is the loud sounds you make when you "go". Everybody on the island can hear what you are doing from the splashing sounds! Plop! Plop!
